Late spring was exceptionally wet around Littlemore. With soft rains, low scudding clouds and the vibrant green fields, we can't help thinking about Ireland.
And, of course, our Irish friends at Messenger Publications in Dublin. We take some modest pride in being the sole distributor in the United States of their booklets, as well as their monthly magazine, The Sacred Heart Messenger.
June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart and we want to recommend a few Messenger booklets of a special devotion to the Sacred Heart.
An Hour With the Sacred Heart, published more than 75 years ago, is a compilation of prayers by Father Patrick O'Mara, S.J., including many prayers of the saints and Jesuit masters, as well as ancient prayers translated from the Irish language. We recommend the companion booklet, also compiled by Father O'Mara, Another Hour With the Sacred Heart.
We also highly recommend Dedicate Your Family to the Sacred Heart. This booklet offers a brief ceremony, to be performed by a priest or family member, enthroning the Sacred Heart in your home.
Cardinal Newman, in one of his loveliest prayers, said that Our Lord's Sacred Heart "was on fire with zeal that the the glory of God be manifest in us." Please visit our website and read the descriptions of our Messenger Publications and the Sacred Heart Messenger, one of Ireland's most popular magazines. We think they're an invitation to let your heart beat with His.
