Love is come again, in the words of the old French carol, to the sweet spring woods around Littlemore as nature is in a veritable riot of growth.
The warm, sunny afternoons are a reminder to us that May is Our Lady’s month. How fitting that our thoughts turn to Marian devotions. May we recommend a beautiful little book, Pilgrims With Mary, by Father John Maloney, P.P., for its meditations on the Mother of God and the role she plays in our salvation.
We’re very pleased to announce that we have expanded our titles from the Institute of Carmelite Studies. This reflects the great resurgence of interest in the way of Carmel, not only among Catholics but Christians of other churches as well. Our editor, John Gillis, is working his fingers to nubs writing descriptions of each title! So please be patient with us.
Sales of Notate Bene, Latin for “Note Well,” our reproduction of a small book of Eucharistic devotions are going very well. We’ve sold several copies of the original, first published in 1790, which we’ve reproduced on linen paper. And we’ve received many warm reviews from our customers. Catholics are a Eucharistic people. We believe this small booklet is indispensable for those who wish to increase the intensity of their devotion to the Sacrament of Love.
We also recommend Golden Arrows or The Use of Pious Aspirations by Father Matthew Russell, S.J., published in 1931 by Athonian Press, Dublin. Again, we’ve reproduced it on sturdy linen paper and we’ve even included a facsimile of the original on the inside front cover. This is a gem of a booklet on ejaculatory prayer.
